Wendy Bussen

Wendy Bussen has over 20 years’ experience in executive leadership roles. These include IS Manager at UNITEC, Director Information Services at the AUT University and General Manager Corporate Services at the Auckland Regional Council. In the last 9 years Wendy has been running her own international consultancy business leading transformation programmes at ASB, Commonwealth Bank, Fletcher Building, Fonterra and in the Health Sector . She is known for driving change through the use of new technologies and creating new ways of working. She is experienced in establishing shared services, contact centres and building centres of excellence.

Michael Myers

Professor of Information Systems, University of Auckland Business School

Michael Myers is Head of the Department of Information Systems and Operations Management at the University of Auckland. After working for IBM New Zealand, Michael joined the university approximately 25 years ago. Since then he has served as President of the Association for Information Systems, as senior editor of the two top academic journals in IS, and is recognised as one of the top IS scholars in the world. He chaired the International Conference on Information Systems held in Auckland in December 2014.

Ross Hughson

Managing Director, Personal Information Management Ltd

Ross has held some of the most challenging IT leadership roles in New Zealand and is recognised as a thought leader in the IT community. He has had a successful career in Executive and General Management in the public and private sector, primarily focused in the area of IT management. A previous winner of the CIO of the Year Award (2000), he has also served on a number of national and international IT advisory and corporate governance boards over many years. Ross is currently managing Director of Personal Information Management Ltd, a start-up company working in the area of Personal Clouds and Identity management, and also provides independent directorship and consultancy services to the market.

Garry Collings

CIO, Mondiale

Garry now holds the position at Mondiale of CIO. Established in 1989, privately owned Mondiale is New Zealand's largest privately owned freight forwarder and an international leader in supply chain management. Global operation with Mondiale offices across New Zealand, Australia, China and the Philippines.

Kevin Angland

General Manager Digital Services, Mercury

Kevin is responsible for the strategic direction, leadership and management of all customer operations, digital and technology capability at Mercury. He is at the heart of Mercury’s focus on customer-lead innovation, delivering value to customers through data and digital platforms. Kevin has a breadth of experience in digital transformation and delivering some of New Zealand’s biggest technology projects. He was NZ CIO of the Year in 2014, and held senior leadership positions with New Zealand’s largest insurer IAG over the past decade prior to joining Mercury in 2016.
Kevin is a member of the advisory boards for the University of Auckland Strategic CIO Programme, the annual New Zealand CIO Summit and a Board member of Electricity Retailers' Association (ERANZ). He holds an MBA and Graduate Diploma in Business & Information Services from the University of Auckland.

Peter Muggleston

CIO, Tower Insurance

Peter joined Foodstuffs Auckland as Chief Information Officer in 2012 and was appointed CIO at Foodstuffs North Island in 2013. In this time he has led a significant business transformation based on deploying SAP Retail across the North Island, replacement of the entire technology stack, and the technology work stream of the merger of Foodstuffs Auckland and Wellington to form the 3rd largest company in NZ by revenue. Prior to Foodstuffs, Peter worked internationally with Shell Oil before returning to New Zealand where he held senior roles at ASB Bank including; Chief Manager Information Services, GM Online Banking and GM Technology Planning & Architecture before joining Sovereign as Chief Information Officer.

Ariana Bascand

Director of Surveys, Winsborough

As the Director of Surveys at Winsborough Ari is responsible for the development, management and operation of Winsborough’s Surveys in support of all Winsborough Development Programmes. Data, technology and analytics feature heavily in her role where she supports a national team of Organisational Psychologists who work in the leadership space with many of New Zealand's leading corporate businesses and government departments. Ari is a passionate advocate of learning, leadership and culture within the Winsborough business and is delighted to be participating as a judge for the CIO Summit Awards in 2017.

Richard Kay

Chief Information Officer, New Zealand Trade & Enterprise

A multi-disciplined and passionate business professional with a well-balanced background of people leadership, business strategy, IT project management, technology strategy and commercial operations management experience. Strong business acumen with strengths in aligning IT with organisational strategy. Richard has overseen the successful delivery for some of New Zealand’s largest and most complicated technology projects, some spanning several hundred million dollars. Richard started his professional career as a Systems Engineer in Dunedin at Computerland (now Spark) where he swiftly moved up the ranks and into consulting roles. Later he had a number of senior global assignments at PGG Wrightson, then moved on to run the telecommunications and IT infrastructure backbone for Transpower (New Zealand’s national grid) in Wellington; New Zealand’s most mission critical technology platform. He has a keen interest in New Zealand’s start-up community where he often consults. Richard is currently Chief Information Officer for New Zealand Trade & Enterprise (NZTE), overseeing the technology, digital and property functions for NZTE’s operations in over 40 countries. For his transformational work at NZTE, Richard was awarded New Zealand CIO of the Year in 2017. He also holds a number of industry qualifications and has an Honours Degree in Anthropology.
